Latin name: Acropora latistella
Discovered by: Brook, 1891
Classification:
- Phylum: Cnidaria
- Class: Anthozoa / Subclass: Hexacoralia
- Order: Scleractinia
- Family: Acroporidae
Aggressiveness: It can harm most SPS corals. Most LPS corals, as well as soft corals, can harm it.
Growth: Moderate
Difficulty level: Recommended only for aquarists with some experience and a stable aquarium with excellent water parameters. These corals are relatively intolerant of and unstable under less-than-ideal conditions.
To increase the chances of success, do not attempt to keep Acropora corals in tanks less than one year old. Significant fluctuations in temperature and/or water quality can be fatal.
Color: Uniform pale cream, grey, or brown, sometimes green or purple. The tips are sometimes yellow.
Water flow: Strong to very strong
Lighting: Strong to very strong
Placement in the aquarium: Upper area of the aquarium.
Captive propagation: By fragmentation.
Feeding: These corals have small polyps and a limited ability to capture prey. They consume foods with very small particle sizes. Oyster eggs, for example, with a particle size of approximately 50 μm, are a suitable food for these corals.
Required parameters:
- Temperature: Between 24–26°C.
- Salinity: Between 1.024–1.026
- pH: Between 8–8.4
- Ammonia: 0 ppm
- Nitrite: 0 ppm
- Nitrate: Below 20 ppm
- Phosphate: Below 0.05 ppm
- Calcium: Above 400 ppm
- Magnesium: Above 1200 ppm
- KH: Around 8 dKH
