Description: It has a flat, blade-like thallus resembling a ribbon, with consecutive bifurcations (dichotomies). The ends of the blades are rounded. A false midrib can be seen along the center of the thallus. It attaches to the substrate by means of rhizoids.
Reproduction: Generally occurs in spring and summer. Asexual reproduction produces solitary tetraspores, while sexual reproduction involves female and male gametophytes.
Habitat: Rocky, sheltered areas, at depths of up to 20 meters.
Distribution: Found in temperate and warm seas.
Color: Varies according to the light; olive green, brown, blue, and grayish. Blue iridescence can be seen underwater.
Size: Up to 25 cm. Caution: Lighting: Moderate–High. Natural predators: Some grazing fish. Removal method: None. Notes: It tolerates high levels of organic matter.
